What’s the Job?

This position is a key member of our Investment Research team that manages an institutional investment platform following a multi-asset class, endowment style approach. They will serve as a generalist supporting senior investment team members, working alongside them across asset classes including equity, fixed income, and alternatives, as well as at the holistic portfolio level. They will have initial and primary responsibilities for supporting investment data analysis and investment content creation. They will have secondary responsibilities over time for supporting more investment manager due diligence and investment strategy initiatives. This role will sit in our Boulder, CO office.

 

What Will You Do? (this is what we know, but expect the unexpected)

Investment Data Analysis

  • Learn, leverage, and become a power user of FactSet, Burgiss, d1g1t, and Excel to provide broad capital market, economic, investment fund, and portfolio level analyses across performance, portfolio holdings, and various time series and quantitative metrics

  • Help create and provide standardized investment analysis and reporting, and perform ad hoc investment analysis and reporting

  • Support senior investment team members in effectively gathering, analyzing, and presenting data on various investment funds, multi-fund portfolios, and multi-asset class portfolios

  • Support investment strategy efforts by effectively gathering, analyzing, and presenting various macroeconomic, asset class, and broad capital markets data (charts, tables, dashboards, etc.)

  • Be(come) a go-to person for senior investment team members and the client advisors for investment data analysis answers and projects across Crestone investments and client portfolios

 

Investment Content Creation

  • Leverage the above investment data analysis to provide standardized and ad hoc investment content (charts, tables, graphs, reports, presentations, talking points) for internal and external needs

  • Work alongside senior investment team members (attending external manager, internal investment team, and Investment Committee meetings) to deeply understand our investments and points-of-view

  • Help prepare and maintain investment collateral to facilitate communication and transparency with Crestone’s clients, including monthly Market Views presentations, investment fact sheets, performance reports, quarterly investment commentary, quarterly investment fund presentations, and various other ongoing and ad hoc content

  • Collaborate heavily with client advisory colleagues to better understand the client communication needs, efficacy, and for continuous improvement

  • Ensure accuracy, quality, timely updates, and compliance approval of investment content and collateral

 

Investment Manager Due Diligence & Investment Strategy

  • Meet and interact with some of the world’s leading investment managers across public equity, private equity, venture capital, private real estate, hedge funds, private credit, and fixed income

  • Support senior investment team members with their quantitative and qualitative monitoring of current investment funds and due diligence of prospective investment funds (including attending and taking notes taking in meetings and calls with investment managers, in-depth analysis, monitoring of underlying holdings, staying abreast of communications from investment managers)

  • Help prepare standard and ad hoc reports, recommendations, and content for Investment Committee

  • Maintain current knowledge of global capital markets by monitoring financial publications and conducting ad hoc research

  • Support quantitative and qualitative investment strategy work around asset allocation, asset class evaluation, capital markets assumptions, and various ad hoc items

  • Leverage much of the investment data analysis work to add insight, efficiency, and efficacy into our multi-asset portfolio management decision making process

 

What Do You Need?

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 0-5 years of relevant investment experience – preferably in wealth management, investment management, investment manager due diligence, or investment-oriented role

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel & PowerPoint)

  • Experience with FactSet and/or Burgiss is a plus; or must be willing to learn quickly

  • Progress toward or willingness to pursue the CFA designation is a plus

  • Strong investment interest and broad financial industry knowledge including traditional (equity, fixed income) and alternative investments (private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, etc.)

  • Strong quantitative skills to evaluate and analyze fund and portfolio performance, portfolio exposures, and investment market data

  • Exceptional attention to detail and good analytical skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills to be an effective investment content creator and communicator

  • Solid interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Unquestionable honesty, integrity, and transparency

  • A collegial, team-oriented, constructive, proactive, can do, figure it out, and results-driven attitude

  • Fluency in the written and spoken English language is a requirement

 

Minimum base salary: $65,000. Total compensation will commensurate with experience.
