Staff Accountant

Our services include global investment access, strategy, and management; estate and philanthropic planning; income tax planning and reporting; financial and cash flow planning; personal financial statement maintenance; and investment portfolio reporting. The Role.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Operational Accounting for Crestone entities (30%)

  • Accounts payable processing – entering of invoices & employee expense reports including proper G/L coding, payment processing (wire/check/ACH), vendor communication, W-9 collection
    • Operating cash maintenance via online banking portals
    • Annual 1099 return preparation
    • Monthly bank reconciliations (x5 accounts)
    • Perform mid-month and month-end journal entries as needed
    • Prepare sublease rent invoices (x2), collect payments, and assist tenants on requests and accounting issues
    • Obtain, track and organize quarterly tax estimates received from underlying investment managers for Crestone and client tax preparers
    • Obtain, track and organize client holdings reports (via internal software) for quarterly client fee billings
    • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects as requested by Controller

Fund Accounting for Crestone-sponsored access vehicles (“fund of funds”) (50%)

  • Liaison with fund administrator for monthly and quarterly access vehicle financial reporting, review workpapers and financials completed by fund administrator
    • Manage operating cash of access vehicles, including line of credit borrowings/repayments, interest payments, and operating expenses
    • Prepare access vehicle capital calls and distributions, coordinate logistics and cash collection with Operations dept
    • Process transfers and assignments of interest between investors within access vehicles as needed
    • Complete investment reconciliations of data received from underlying investment managers and internal client reporting
    • Liaison with fund administrator and auditor for annual audits of access vehicles
    • Coordinate annual regulatory filings for access vehicles
    • Manage access vehicle investor list

The Tools.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • 3+ years’ experience in accounting, preferably in private equity, investment mgmt., or wealth mgmt. industries
  • Strong intent to sit for CPA exam
  • QuickBooks desktop experience required
  • Strong MS Excel skills preferred, including knowledge of VLOOKUP’s and Pivot tables. Macro knowledge a plus.
