Role Summary
The Tax & Financial Associate role is a valued team member who infuses tax awareness and expertise into all aspects of the client experience and portfolio, as well as supports the Client Advisory team more broadly. This individual should expect to take charge of tasks and initiatives with oversight.  This role requires both a team and utility player mentality.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a thought leader as it relates to tax law changes/reform and capitalize on such changes within client portfolios and on investment decisions; craft whitepapers and draft client correspondence as appropriate
  • Interact with client CPAs and drive team calls to ensure a seamless family office experience re tax matters, including year-end tax planning, quarterly tax projections and estimated payments, and utilizing carryforwards and credits
  • Act as a liaison between the Client Advisory team and both the Family Wealth Planning and Investment Research teams as it relates to tax matters and investment strategies
  • Participate in client and internal meetings as Crestone’s in-house tax expert as appropriate 
  • Create an after-tax capital market assumption paradigm, to be utilized by the Investment Committee 
  • Broadly support the Client Advisory team with respect to a select number of Crestone’s clients
  • Understand such client's background, investment goals and objectives and assist with development of their Investment Policy Statement (IPS), as well as support the client advisors on all portfolio matters
  • Assist with non-investment financial transactions (e.g., banking/mortgage)
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding confidential and complex topics with the highest level of integrity
  • Continuously expand referral network, building Crestone's presence and brand

Qualifications

Required

  • Undergraduate degree with a preference for Finance, Accounting, and/or a related field
  • Minimum of three years of tax experience with an accounting firm, preferably working with alternative investments (venture capital, private equity, real estate and/or hedge funds), or working with wealth management firms with a meaningful asset allocation to the same
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound judgment, self-starter, and ability to handle concurrent demands efficiently and to take ownership of results

Preferred

  • Masters of Taxation (or Accounting)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
