Bill Browder is the founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management, which was the investment adviser to the largest foreign investment fund in Russia until 2005, when Bill was denied entry to the country and declared a “threat to national security” as a result of his battle against corporate corruption.

Browder has spent many years fighting for justice for Mr. Magnitsky. The Russian government exonerated and even promoted some of the officials involved so Browder took the case to America, where his campaigning led to the US Congress adopting the ‘Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act’ in 2012 by President Obama, which imposed visa sanctions and asset freezes on those involved in the detention, ill-treatment and death of Sergei Magnitsky (as well as in other human rights abuses). Browder is currently working to have similar legislation passed in Magnitsky’s name across the European Union.

Bill tells the story of his career and his experience with Russia and Hermitage Capital Management in his book, Red Notice. Bill is the recipient of many awards, including “Man of the Year” in GQ Magazine, Aspen Institute’s Henry Crown Leadership Award, and the Lantos Human Rights Prize to name a few.

Ed, Founder and Chairman of Evercore ISI, has held the #1 rank for Economics by the Institutional Investor poll of investors for the last 40 years. Preceding his time at Evercore ISI, Ed founded and served as the Chairman for ISI Group, LLC and ISI Inc. Ed was previously the Vice Chairman and a Board Member at C.J. Lawrence and an Economic Consultant at Data Resources, Inc. 

At Evercore, Ed and his team seek clients who are talented, innovative, and driven. Evercore is one of the fastest growing independent investment banking advisory firms in the world, and it continues to grow revenues at a rapid rate. 

Ed is a board member of China Institute and is a member of the Advisory Committee for The New York Public Library’s Financial Services Leadership Forum. He also serves on the Finance Committee of Bowdoin College and is a member of the Economic Club of New York. He earned a BS in Engineering from the University of Texas in 1967 and received his MBA from MIT in 1969.

Byron Wien is Vice Chairman of Blackstone’s Private Wealth Solutions group where he acts as a senior advisor to both the Firm and its clients in analyzing economic, social and political trends to assess the direction of financial markets and thus help guide investment and strategic decisions. Prior to Blackstone, Byron was both the Chief Investment Strategist for Pequot Capital and the Chief U.S. Investment Strategist at Morgan Stanley. Some key accomplishments of Byron’s include being named “one of the most influential people in Wall Street” by New York Magazine, the ranking of #1 Strategist by SmartMoney.com, and his lifetime achievement award from NYSSA.

Byron’s knowledge and expertise stem from his time receiving an AB from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a co-author of the book Soros on Soros – Staying Ahead of the Curve, an Investment Committee member at both Lincoln Center and The Pritzker Foundation, and a Chairman of the JPB Foundation.

David has been with Brown Advisory for over 21 years, previously working as an equity research analyst and now as Co-Portfolio Manager. He is part of the Institutional, Equity Research, and Sustainable Investing team, where he works on Brown’s Large-Cap Sustainable Growth strategy. 

David received his BA from Bowdoin College, serves as a Board Member for the Lockhart Vaughan Foundation, and is the Chair of Emmanuel Church’s endowment committee.
